    Work Placement Coordinator

    The Position:

    The Skill Engineer Ltd is a NSW Work Placement Service Provider.

    Work placement is a mandatory requirement for NSW HSC ICF VET courses and some Board Endorsed Courses. These courses are available to students in Years 11 and 12 and to students in Year 9 and 10 in appropriate circumstances through the early commencement pathway for Stage 5 students. Students enrolled in the courses are required to spend up to 35 hours each year in the workplace contextualizing their classroom learning. The Skill Engineer Ltd works with local schools, EVET providers and employers to coordinate HSC VET work placements for all eligible students on the NSW Central Coast and the Hills District in Sydney.

    The Work Placement Coordinator will work under the direction of the Manager undertaking a range of functions requiring the application of a good level of knowledge and skills to achieve results in line with the organisation and work placement program’s goals. The Work Placement Coordinator may be required to exercise initiative and judgement when dealing with schools, students and employers to enhance work placement opportunities for students. The Work Placement Coordinator will have an excellent understanding of VET in schools and EVET systems gained thorough experience and will know how to set priorities, manage their time, provide reports and meet operational demands of schools, students and employers.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Highly developed communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Willingness to work in a team and contribute to every team member successfully meeting KPIs.
    • Knowledge of organisational programs, policies, and activities.
    • Relevant recent experience or willingness to learn.
    • Willingness to cold canvass employers to increase work placement opportunities for students.
    • Thorough knowledge of the school systems and EVET sector that relate to VET in Schools and the mandatory Board of Studies requirements for completion of a VET subject for the NSW HSC.
    • Current NSW Working with Children’s Check.
    • Current National Police Clearance.
    • Current Driver’s Licence.
    • First Aid Certificate desirable.
