Igniting Future Pathways Through Engineering, Fabrication and STEM

Youth Scoot & Metal Makers is an exciting new 10-week program delivered by The Skill Engineer Ltd. for Central Coast high school students, proudly supported by NSW Government Youth Opportunities funding.

This fully funded STEM-based initiative offers students hands-on learning in e-scooter construction, welding, and metalwork, combining practical skill development with industry engagement and community celebration.

About the Program

Delivered from 2 Kangoo Road, Kariong NSW, the program commences Term 2, 2025, and includes:

• Youth Scoot (E-Cruiser Program):
  Students will learn to build their own electric scooters from the ground up, gaining valuable skills in welding, electronics, mechanical assembly, and workplace safety. With mentorship from TSE’s Apprentice Master and virtual industry engagement from engineering partner Evero P/L, students will work in teams to construct e-cruisers and present their creations at a final community showcase.
• Metal Makers (STEM + Metal Fabrication Program):
  Running alongside Youth Scoot, this program invites students to explore the world of STEM through creative welding and fabrication. Participants will design and produce bespoke metal sculptures and furniture, learning safe tool use, structural design, and artistic expression through metalwork.

Both streams aim to increase employability, build confidence, and spark curiosity in non-traditional trades, culminating in a graduation event to recognise participants’ achievements.

Why It Matters

The program prioritises engagement of disadvantaged and isolated youth, offering not just skills training but career mentoring, and ongoing support. Through collaboration with local partners, TSE ensures inclusive access to transformative learning experiences that boost self-esteem, teamwork, and job-readiness.
