Metal Maker

Metal Maker

The program is an empowering 5-week initiative, offering high school students an opportunity to explore metal manufacturing through hands-on welding and grinding techniques.

This program targets youth interested in metal engineering basics and aspiring to carve a career pathway in trades experiencing national skill shortages, with potential transitions to jobs in growth areas like design, biomedical, aerospace, defense, marine, and the new industrial revolution involving robotics and automation.

This opportunity is made possible by the Maker Projects – Community STEM Engagement Grants 2022, with collaboration from the Workplace Lerarning Network – Illawarra Schools Workplace Learning Program Incorporated, Career Links, Youth Express, Connect Northern Rivers, Southern Region Business Enterprise Centre, Mid Coast Connect, Careers Network, and Compact Incorporated.

The program will commence 21 February 2024.
