WORK PLACEMENT


The Skill Engineer Ltd will deliver coordination services for mandatory Higher School Certificate (HSC) Vocational Education and Training (VET) work placements from 2021 to 2024 across the Central Coast and Northern Sydney. 

Work placement is a mandatory component of vocational education and training (VET) courses, that students can choose as part of their studies for the NSW Higher School Certificate.

The 12 industry based VET courses are:

    • Automotive
    • Entertainment Industry
    • Human Services
    • Retail Services
      • Business Services
      • Financial Services
      • Information and Digital Technology
      • Tourism, Travel and Events
        • Electrotechnology
        • Hospitality
        • Primary Industries
        • Construction

          The Board Endorsed Courses are:

            • Animal Studies
            • Early Childhood
            • Community Services
              • Fitness
              • Manufacturing and Engineering
              • School Based Education Support
                • Plumbing
                • Sport Coaching
                • Active Volunteering

                  STUDENTS

                  Work placements enable students to understand how classroom skills translate to a workforce setting, and provide a solid foundation for future employment. 

                  The Skill Engineer liaises with local schools with secondary enrolments, EVET providers and employers to coordinate HSC VET work placements for all eligible students within the service region.

                  EMPLOYERS

                  Each year a number of employers across the Central Coast and Northern Sydney host student work placements. Host employers are integral to the success of the Work Placement Program and play an important role in a young person’s journey to becoming work ready.
